Mission Statement
At Semaia, our mission is to help mining and environmental clients achieve sustainable progress through environmental integrity, regulatory excellence, and meaningful Indigenous partnership.
The name Semaia reflects our philosophy and approach. The first half, “sem”, from Proto-Indo-European language represents unity, and the second half, “aia”, derived from Gaia, symbolizes growth. Together, Semaia represents unity and growth as a shared journey — one that we strive to walk alongside our clients and communities every step of the way.
Founder
The Founder and Director, Nish Logeswaran, brings over 13 years of environmental and community leadership experience working alongside clients, regulators, and Indigenous partners to deliver practical, sustainable solutions. Nish has led Alamos Gold’s Island Gold Phase 3 Expansion Project, where he oversaw environmental management, permitting, and community engagement efforts. He has conducted due diligence reviews abroad at the Mulatos (Mexico) Site and brings a deep understanding of the practical realities of operating in Northern Ontario.
Through his work with Davies and other consulting firms, Nish has been involved in environmental and Indigenous regulatory processes across Canada, gaining valuable familiarity with the Nunavut Impact Review Board, British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Office, and Quebec’s Environmental Assessment Regime.
He has presented at conferences, fireside chats, and panels discussing best management practices to address environmental and community concerns. His approach is rooted in collaboration, trust, and technical excellence, ensuring clients not only meet their obligations but also strengthen relationships with the communities and lands where they operate.
